Sustainability

Doing good. Tasting great. Our commitment to you.

At McCain, we want to continue making real connections through delicious food long into the future. That’s why we’ve put our Sustainability Strategy at the very heart of our future plans. Of course, we’ll continue to prioritise local produce from local farms. And we’ll grow our sustainable farming practices and reduce our environmental footprint, while helping the communities that do so much for us. That’s real, sustainable change.

Smarter, more

Sustainable Farming

The quality of our produce begins with our growers. So, too, does our approach to sustainability.

That's why McCain is constantly working with our growers on ways to make processes more sustainable. This includes providing regenerative agriculture training to our growers across ANZ, and supporting them with financing solutions to help accelerate their adoption of regenerative agricultural practices.

More

Resource-efficient operations

At McCain, we work hard to ensure we use precious natural resources responsibly.

Our Timaru plants have substituted biomass (wood chips) for coal, increasing their boiler’s temperature output whilst reducing CO2 emissions. They’ve also installed innovative PEF potato peeling tech, reducing steam demand.

Food that’s as

Good as it looks

Our product can't just look amazing, we want customers to know that ‘McCain’ means natural, nutritional and full of real, incredible flavour.

We’ve introduced nutrition and clean ingredient policies to ensure we meet the ever-growing health needs of consumers as well as environmental and animal welfare concerns. And we’re constantly seeking new ways to improve, whether that's working on reducing the sodium in a number of products without compromising on taste, or expanding our healthier vegetarian-forward range.

Communities

that thrive

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of local communities. So, it’s vital to us that we give something back whenever we can.

We’ve donated hundreds of thousands of meals to food relief organisations across ANZ – and we support McCain employees to volunteer in communities through our ‘Chips In’ program. We’re in it together, for the long haul.
